We would like to take this opportunity to thank our members along with the NWR administration, staff, students, parents and community for their support during the 2009-2010 school year. In September 2009, PIE set a goal of refocusing and reenergizing our organization in order to increase membership and expand the programs and aid we offer to the NWR School District. With your help, PIE has made great progress and we look forward to an even more successful 2010-2011 school year!
As of January 2010, PIE became a NJ Nonprofit Corporation. We are now in the process of applying for IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in order to take advantage of grants, matching corporate gifts and other benefits available to such organizations.
To learn more about our organization and how you can participate, please select one of the following categories. You may also contact PIE directly at nwrpie@gmail.com.
Mission PIE/Ascenza Fundraiser Recap Logo Contest Recap Meetings (Schedule/Minutes)
PIE’s mission is to bring home and school into closer contact so that the parents, teachers, students and administration may cooperate intelligently in the education of the students. PIE will accomplish this goal by disseminating objective and clear information at meetings with regard to the programs, both curricular and extra-curricular, and policies of the school and the safety and welfare of the staff and students. PIE will also facilitate the exchange of ideas, questions and concerns between members of the North Warren Community and the school.
PIE will conduct fundraising activities throughout the year. Any funds raised by PIE will go directly toward supporting scholarships for high school and middle school students and to support other educational programs and activities required to complete our mission.
PIE and Acsenza Wellness Center are proud to announce that over $ 2100.00 was raised for our 2010 The More You Lose, The More Students Gain Fundraiser to support the North Warren Partners In Education (PIE) Organization. Team Jekyll and Hyde collected over $ 600 in sponsorships and was awarded the 6 month membership to Ascenza.
We want to thank Ascenza for hosting our fundraiser and providing fitness and nutrition education to the participants. Many individuals lost over 10 pounds and increased their physical fitness!
We thank all of our participants and sponsors for their generous support.
PIE would like to thank all of the student participants in our 2010 Logo Design Contest. A Selection Committee, comprised of local business owners, artists, art teachers and parents chose the top four designs from all entries. Our top four finalists (and winners of a $50 gift card to Blick Art Supply) were Mike Fowley, Chianne Fox, Alyssa Kopf and Cara Anne Anastasio. These designs were then submitted to the entire PIE membership for a vote. Mike Fowley's submission was selected as our new logo. PIE will sponsor Mike for a showing of his artwork at Gallery 23 (Main St., Blairstown) later this year. PIE would also like to congratulate Conner O'Brien, Jill Cardosa, Kasey Bizzaro and Zach Lankowski for being recognized by the Selection Committee with Honorable Mention awards. PIE thanks our Selection Committee: Gail Masson-Romano (RE/MAX Ridge), Jeff Baier (U-Mark-It), Laura Corio, Kenna Pearson and Edwina Soision. We would also like to thank Mr. Melchor, Mr. Hashway, Mr. Thatcher, Mr. Kennedy and Mrs. Hough for helping to organize this contest.
