Over the past several years, the North Warren School Board, Administration, and Staff have been engaged in providing an enhanced learning environment that will improve academic achievement.  The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), in collaboration with the Bloustein Center for Survey Research at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, developed and disseminated the New Jersey School Climate Survey (NJSCS) and supportive materials in 2012.  
 
Schools are encouraged to use the NJSCS tools to support local school climate and culture improvement activities as an integral part of their continuous efforts to improve student’s educations and prevent at-risk student behavior. 
  
The NJSCS also can be used to assist schools and their Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying (HIB) prevention teams, in meeting their obligations under the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act to “…develop, foster, and maintain a positive school climate by focusing on the on-going, systemic process and practices in the school and to address school climate issues such as harassment, intimidation, or bullying …” and to “… review and strengthen school climate and the policies of the school to prevent and address harassment, intimidation, or bullying of students” (see NJDOE website, or google NJ 
School Climate Survey for these statements and more information). 
 
North Warren would like to use the NJ School Climate Survey to collect data that will help us to evaluate our strengths and to identify areas for improvement.  We need your assistance in this effort.
 
For our purposes, the NJ School Climate Survey is divided into three surveys:  Parents, Staff, and Middle/High School Students.  This survey is completely anonymous and conducted via SurveyMonkey.  We cannot identify individual participants. 
 
We would be grateful if you, as a parent or guardian of a North Warren Student, would please access the following web link and complete the short survey by May 28, 2013.  
 
 
When the results have been tabulated, they will be reported at an upcoming Board of Education meeting and on our NWR web-site.

The vehicle left the scene when school staff attempted to approach the driver. The vehicle was described as a small white pickup truck with NJ registration being operated by a white male party. The vehicle also reportedly had “bath safe remodelers” or “safe bath remodelers” written on the sides. Please contact the Blairstown Police Department with any information regarding the vehicle.

Attention Students and Staff: The Senior Class will hold its first annual Senior Class Bazaar on Saturday, May 11, 2013, from 10am-4pm. Please come and support the senior class by test driving one of twelve Ford model cars and trucks brought to you by Smith Motors of Washington Twp, perusing the Vendor Show, taking your chance in our raffle, getting your car washed, or buying a tasty treat at the bake sale. All proceeds go to defray the cost of senior activities and towards purchasing new picnic tables for the courtyard.

Voices of the Veterans: This year’s Voices of the Veterans Program will be held on May 29. Students and Staff Members of North Warren are encouraged to extend an invitation to family members or friends who have served in any branch of the military and who may be interested in participating as an honored guest for the day. Please stop in to the College and Career Center (Room #34) and see Mrs. Horn for registration information.

 All students have to sign out at the Main office before they leave. Students must be excused with a parent note or a phone call must be made before a student can leave. Even if you are 18. Any student who is found out of the building without permission is considered truant. 

Attention: 18 year old male students
Within 30 days of your 18th birthday, you are required to register either online or at your post office with the Selective Service (www.sss.gov). The law states that all 18-year old men must register. Failure to do so may jeopardize your driver’s license and eligibility for financial aid in post-secondary institutions. Please visit the college and career center for more information.  

Got a pass? You need a library/media center pass signed by your teacher to work in the library. 

Visit the library after school Tuesdays and Thursdays until 3:20 PM.
