School Issued Chromebooks

This message is for all 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students and parents:

We have been working to support our students as we transition to virtual instruction and our very creative instructional-tech department has figured out a way to get laptops in the hands of all students. They have been working over the past two weeks to disassemble all of our Chromebook carts, gather all spare machines, and simultaneously negotiate a very low rate for a number of additional “new old stock” Chromebooks. We now have enough laptops to distribute to all 10th-, 11th-, and 12th-grade students. These are almost identical to the Chromebooks that students in the lower grades are using but may vary slightly. We will be distributing them this week so students receive them before spring break.

12th-grade students will need to return the Chromebooks at the end of the school year.

10th- and 11th-grade students will be permitted to keep the Chromebooks at home over the summer until the start of the school year when they will be expected to bring them to school daily, similarly to our lower-grade students.

We will be DELIVERING these to the homes of all 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students and deliveries will run along existing bus routes, which means we will be starting with students who are on Route 101, then Route 102, etc. We expect this distribution to take two to three days to complete and will be starting with Route 101 and progressing numerically.

Our staff will drop this device off on your front porch, ring the bell/knock, and then return to their vehicle. Please do not engage with or speak to the staff as we practice appropriate physical distancing. Our staff will follow CDC protocols for deliveries and will be equipped with gloves, masks, and disinfectants.

IMPORTANT:
If you do not wish to have the laptop delivered to you or will not have someone home to gather the laptop from your porch or for any reason do not want us to deliver this device over the next three days, please email Ms. Blanchette right away and we will delay delivery.

Email: mblanchette@northwarren.org

You can also call the school back at this number and hit #7 for Ms. Kuhar’s extension and leave a voicemail. We are checking our voicemail remotely.

We will update you with another call at the end of the day tomorrow so you know where we are with our distribution cycle.

Thank you,
